Runts usually mean a collision cut a frame short or a NIC is malfunctioning, so tying the count to a specific host in this table lets an admin narrow the search instead of chasing a switch-wide error. If mleRunts climbs only for one MAC address's row while the rest of the mle Ethernet-error history table stays clean, an admin would suspect that specific NIC or its cable rather than a shared uplink.
