OID (symbolic): CODIMA-EXPRESS-MIB::alarmUnitType

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.226.3.2.1.2.8

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: DisplayString

Access: accessible-for-notify

Description: The unit type is the type of the device that generated this event, e.g. Bridge, Workstation, File Server.

What is alarmUnitType?

This DisplayString, sent with an alarm notification, names the type of device that generated the event, with the MIB giving Bridge, Workstation, or File Server as examples. An admin uses it to immediately know what kind of equipment triggered the alert, useful for routing the notification to the right support team. For example, an alarmUnitType of "File Server" on an activity-failure alarm would tell the admin a server, not a workstation, stopped responding.
