An administrator treats a rising count as evidence that a peer device is sending frames with an LLC type this instance doesn't recognize, which could indicate a protocol mismatch or a misbehaving peer. For example, connecting a new device that uses a nonstandard LLC type would cause this counter to climb even while the physical link itself stays up.
