This flag reports whether this SNMP agent is acting as a proxy agent, is itself a proxied node, or is behaving as a normal, non-proxying agent. An administrator checks this first when troubleshooting SNMP reachability, since a node reported as proxied means requests to it are actually being relayed through another agent. For example, if polling this node times out but its status shows proxied-node, the admin knows to check the health of the proxy agent rather than this node's own network path.
