This counter records how many timeouts the agent received from the managed elements (MEs) when it issued a MIB request to them. An administrator treats a rising count as evidence that internal communication between the SNMP agent and the underlying managed elements is slow or unreliable, separate from any external SNMP client-facing issue. For example, if external SNMP polling is timing out and this counter is also climbing, the admin can localize the fault to the internal agent-to-ME mail path rather than the network.
