aniDevSysLoggingGroupCtrl

Module: CLAB-ANI-DEV-MIB

OID (symbolic): CLAB-ANI-DEV-MIB::aniDevSysLoggingGroupCtrl

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.4491.4.7.1.2.4

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: Bits

Access: read-write

Description: The system 'group' or 'groups' to be logged. If all(1) is set, then other bits are ignored. If set to 'none(0)', messages that do not include a 'group' are candidates to be logged. Logging Groups for Event Logs are defined in the controlling Access Network Independent device specification for equipment implementing this MIB. Returns WrongValue error if an attempt is made to set the bit for a Logging Group not supported by the device.

What is aniDevSysLoggingGroupCtrl?

This BITS object selects which logging 'groups' (device-specification-defined categories of events) are captured, where all(1) overrides the other bits and none(0) means only ungrouped messages are candidates for logging. An administrator sets it to focus logging on specific subsystems relevant to a given investigation rather than capturing everything. For example, enabling only group2 and group3 bits would let a technician isolate log messages from two specific functional areas defined in the device's specification while suppressing the rest.
