swIfSpeedDuplexAutoNegotiation

Module: CISCOSB-rlInterfaces

OID (symbolic): CISCOSB-rlInterfaces::swIfSpeedDuplexAutoNegotiation

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.6.1.101.43.1.1.16

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-write

Description: If enabled the speed and duplex mode will be set by the device through the autonegotiation process. Otherwise these characteristics will be set according to the values of swIfSpeedAdminMode and swIfSpeedDuplexAutoNegotiation.

What is swIfSpeedDuplexAutoNegotiation?

This read-write enumerated INTEGER (enabled/disabled) controls whether speed and duplex on this interface are determined automatically via the standard auto-negotiation process. Admins disable this and set explicit speed/duplex values when connecting to devices with unreliable auto-negotiation, a common source of duplex-mismatch problems. For example, disabling auto-negotiation and manually setting swIfSpeedAdminMode and swIfDuplexAdminMode is a standard fix for a link that keeps negotiating to half duplex against a legacy device.
