Module: CISCOSB-rlInterfaces

OID (symbolic): CISCOSB-rlInterfaces::swIfOperSpeedDuplexAutoNegotiation

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.6.1.101.43.1.1.18

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-only

Description: If enabled the speed and duplex are determined by the device through the autonegotiation process. If disabled these characteristics are determined according to the values of swIfSpeedAdminMode and swIfDuplexAdminMode. hybrid - only for a trunk. unknown - only for ports that there operative status is not present.

What is swIfOperSpeedDuplexAutoNegotiation?

This read-only enumerated INTEGER (enabled/disabled/hybrid/unknown) reports whether speed and duplex on this interface are actually being determined via auto-negotiation right now, with hybrid applying only to trunks and unknown when the port's operative status isn't present, per the description. Admins check this to confirm the live negotiation state matches what was administratively configured, since a disabled operational state means the port is instead running whatever speed/duplex was manually forced. For example, if an admin enabled auto-negotiation but this field reports disabled, that would point to the far-end device rejecting negotiation and the port falling back to forced settings.
