Description: on - Flow control will be enabled on this interface according to the IEEE 802.3x standard. off - Flow control is disabled. autoNegotiation - Flow control will be enabled or disabled on this interface. If enabled, it will operate as specified by the IEEE 802.3x standard. enabledRx - Flow control will be enabled on this interface for recieved frames. enabledTx - Flow control will be enabled on this interface for transmitted frames. An attempt to set this object to 'enabledRx(4)' or 'enabledTx(5)' will fail on interfaces that do not support operation at greater than 100 Mb/s. In any case, flow control can work only if swIfDuplexOperMode is full.

What is swIfFlowControlMode?

This read-write enumerated INTEGER (on/off/autoNegotiation/enabledRx/enabledTx) configures the IEEE 802.3x flow control behavior on this interface, including asymmetric receive-only or transmit-only options. Admins tune this to prevent buffer overruns on congested links by allowing pause frames to throttle a sender, while enabledRx/enabledTx let them apply flow control in only one direction when needed. For example, setting enabledRx on a port facing a bursty server lets that port ask the server to pause without itself sending pause frames back.
