rlVrrpv3OperationsAdminState

Module: CISCOSB-VRRP

OID (symbolic): CISCOSB-VRRP::rlVrrpv3OperationsAdminState

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.6.1.101.26.26.1.1.4

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-write

Description: This object will enable/disable the virtual router function. Setting the value to `up', will transition the state of the virtual router from `initialize' to `backup' or `master', depending on the value of `vrrpOperPriority'. Setting the value to `down', will transition the router from `master' or `backup' to `initialize'. State transitions may not be immediate; they sometimes depend on other factors, such as the interface (IF) state.

What is rlVrrpv3OperationsAdminState?

This read-write enumerated value (up or down) enables or disables the virtual router function itself; setting it to up transitions the router from initialize to backup or master depending on its configured priority, while setting it down removes it from active VRRP participation. An admin cares because this is the master on/off switch for a VRRP instance, directly controlling whether it participates in first-hop redundancy at all. For example, an admin performing maintenance on a redundant gateway sets this to down to cleanly remove it from the VRRP group before servicing it, then back to up afterward.
