Module: CISCOSB-TRUNK-MIB
OID (symbolic): CISCOSB-TRUNK-MIB::rlDot3adAggBalanceBroadcastType
OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.6.1.101.65.2.1.4
Node type: OBJECT-TYPE
Type: INTEGER
Access: read-write
Description: Specifies a balancing criterion used for L2 broadcast and unknown frames: common: a link allocated for broadcast and unknown frames is used for unicast frames too dedicated: a link allocated for broadcast and unknown frames is not used for unicast frames
What is rlDot3adAggBalanceBroadcastType?
This read-write INTEGER decides whether the link dedicated to L2 broadcast and unknown-unicast frames is also shared for regular unicast traffic (common) or reserved exclusively (dedicated). An admin tunes this when troubleshooting trunk link utilization, since a dedicated broadcast link reduces unicast capacity but isolates broadcast storms from affecting unicast throughput. For example, setting this to dedicated(1) on a trunk carrying heavy broadcast traffic would keep that traffic off the links otherwise reserved for unicast flows.
