rlSyslogAlarmFlag

Module: CISCOSB-SYSLOG-MIB

OID (symbolic): CISCOSB-SYSLOG-MIB::rlSyslogAlarmFlag

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.6.1.101.82.2.17

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: TruthValue

Access: read-write

Description: The MIB is initiated by false and it is set to true every time when a syslog message with severity >= min_severity_to_alarm_threshold (host parameter) is generated.

What is rlSyslogAlarmFlag?

This read-write TruthValue starts at false and gets automatically set to true whenever a syslog message is generated whose severity meets or exceeds the host's configured alarm threshold. Admins poll or reset it as a simple sticky "something serious happened" indicator, separate from having to scan the full log. For example, a monitoring system polls this flag periodically and, on seeing it flip to true, immediately pulls the log to investigate rather than waiting for its normal full-log poll cycle.

snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> CISCOSB-SYSLOG-MIB::rlSyslogAlarmFlag

Get a specific instance (index 1):

snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.6.1.101.82.2.17.1
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> CISCOSB-SYSLOG-MIB::rlSyslogAlarmFlag.1

Set instance 1 (SNMPv2c):

snmpset -v2c -c private <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.6.1.101.82.2.17.1 s <value>

SNMPv3 example:

snmpget -v3 -l authPriv -u snmpv3-user -a SHA -A "AuthPassword1" -x AES -X "PrivPassword1" <target> rlSyslogAlarmFlag.1
