Module: CISCOSB-BRGMACSWITCH-MIB
OID (symbolic): CISCOSB-BRGMACSWITCH-MIB::rlBrgMacSwTrapEnable
OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.6.1.101.50.10
Node type: OBJECT-TYPE
Type: TruthValue
Access: read-write
Description: This variable indicates whether to create a SNMP trap if adding dynamic mac failed due to full hash chain.
What is rlBrgMacSwTrapEnable?
This read-write TruthValue controls whether the device generates an SNMP trap when adding a dynamic MAC address entry fails because its hash chain is full. An admin cares because this failure means new devices on that segment may not be learned properly, and the trap is the proactive alert mechanism for it. For example, an admin managing a heavily loaded access switch would enable this trap so they're notified immediately if MAC learning starts failing due to hash-chain exhaustion, rather than only discovering it later via unreachable hosts.
