cvapCodecConfigVoicePacketPeriod
Module: CISCO-VOICE-AALX-PROFILE-MIB
OID (symbolic): CISCO-VOICE-AALX-PROFILE-MIB::cvapCodecConfigVoicePacketPeriod
OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.323.1.1.2.1.4
Node type: OBJECT-TYPE
Type: CiscoCodecPacketPeriod
Access: read-write
Description: This object specifies the packetization period for a particular CODEC in voice application. The packetization period represents the time for the media gateway to collect the data from TDM side before it sends out the packet.
This object is not applicable if cvapCodecConfigAdaptType is set to 'aal2(4)' since the packetization period for a CODEC in VoATM with AAL2 depends on the associated profile.
What is cvapCodecConfigVoicePacketPeriod?
This read-write CiscoCodecPacketPeriod value, measured in microseconds, specifies how long the media gateway collects TDM voice data before packetizing and sending it out for a given CODEC. An administrator tunes this to balance packetization delay against packet overhead for voice quality, noting it doesn't apply when the CODEC's adapt type is aal2. For example, increasing this period reduces per-packet overhead but adds latency to the voice stream.
