Description: This object specifies the packetization period for a particular CODEC in VBD (Voice Band Data) upspeed. The packetization period represents the time for the media gateway to collect the data from TDM side before it sends out the packet.
This object is not applicable if cvapCodecConfigAdaptType is set to 'aal2(4)' since the packetization period for a CODEC in VoATM with AAL2 depends on the associated profile.
What is cvapCodecConfigVbdPacketPeriod?
This read-write CiscoCodecPacketPeriod value, measured in microseconds, specifies the packetization period used specifically for Voice Band Data (VBD) upspeed with a given CODEC, again not applicable when adaptation is aal2. An administrator adjusts this separately from the voice packet period to tune fax or modem-over-IP performance distinct from regular voice traffic. For example, a shorter VBD packet period could reduce latency for a fax relay session riding the same CODEC configuration.
