filterPortSuppressionOption

Module: CISCO-STACK-MIB

OID (symbolic): CISCO-STACK-MIB::filterPortSuppressionOption

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.5.1.7.5.1.8

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: Bits

Description: Indicates the traffic types that traffic suppression feature is enabled for.

multicast(0) is set when multicast suppression is enabled. unicast(1) is set when unicast suppression is enabled. broadcast(2) is set when broadcast suppression is enabled.

What is filterPortSuppressionOption?

This is a bitmap on a switch port indicating which traffic types — multicast, unicast, and/or broadcast — have storm/traffic suppression actively enabled. Because it's a BITS value rather than a single flag, more than one suppression type can be active simultaneously on the same port, for example broadcast and multicast suppression together while unicast remains unsuppressed, and reading back which bits are set is how you confirm which specific storm-control protections are actually live on that port rather than just configured intent. A port connected to a hub with a loose cable causing broadcast storms would show filterPortSuppressionOption with just the broadcast(2) bit set, suppressing broadcast floods while still passing normal unicast and multicast traffic through untouched.

Examples

Walk all instances (SNMPv2c):

snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.5.1.7.5.1.8
snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> CISCO-STACK-MIB::filterPortSuppressionOption

Get a specific instance (index 1):

snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.5.1.7.5.1.8.1
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> CISCO-STACK-MIB::filterPortSuppressionOption.1

Set instance 1 (SNMPv2c):

snmpset -v2c -c private <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.5.1.7.5.1.8.1 s <value>

SNMPv3 example:

snmpget -v3 -l authPriv -u snmpv3-user -a SHA -A "AuthPassword1" -x AES -X "PrivPassword1" <target> filterPortSuppressionOption.1
