csDefineSlotNumber

Module: CISCO-SM-FILE-DOWNLOAD-MIB

OID (symbolic): CISCO-SM-FILE-DOWNLOAD-MIB::csDefineSlotNumber

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.199.1.1.1.1.3

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: Gauge

Access: read-write

Description: An integer that specifies the slot number of the service module to which the file needs to be downloaded.

A value of 100 would indicate that file needs to be downloaded to all applicable service modules.

What is csDefineSlotNumber?

This object specifies which service module slot the file should be downloaded to, with the special value 100 meaning all applicable service modules. This determines the blast radius of a single download operation: targeting one specific slot lets an admin stage an update to a single module for validation before rolling it out to every module with 100, avoiding a bad update hitting every service module in the chassis at once. Setting csDefineSlotNumber to 3 downloads the file only to the service module in slot 3, letting an admin test a new file on one module before setting it to 100 for the rest of the chassis.
