cOpticalPMCurrentUnavailSecs

Module: CISCO-OPTICAL-MONITOR-MIB

OID (symbolic): CISCO-OPTICAL-MONITOR-MIB::cOpticalPMCurrentUnavailSecs

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.264.1.2.1.1.8

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: Integer32

Access: read-only

Description: This object is used to indicate the number of seconds, in the current 15 minute or the current 24 hour interval, for which the optical performance data is not accounted for.

In the receive direction, the performance data could be unavailable during these periods for multiple reasons like the interface being administratively down or if there is a Loss of Light alarm on the interface. In the transmit direction, performance data could be unavailable when the laser is shutdown.

What is cOpticalPMCurrentUnavailSecs?

This read-only object counts the seconds during the current 15-minute or 24-hour interval where optical performance data could not be collected, such as during receive-side outages.

Start monitoring Cisco DWDM optical transport platforms with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Create custom SNMP monitor using the CISCO-OPTICAL-MONITOR-MIB::cOpticalPMCurrentUnavailSecs OID value, configure state conditions and alerts, and monitor any Cisco DWDM optical transport platforms from a single console.

How to Use in IPNetwork Monitor

Select a Cisco DWDM optical transport platform as the target host to create a monitor — the SNMP service should be up and running on it. Click New Monitor, then check SNMP Custom on the Favorites tab, click Next, and confirm the host. On the next page, click Select... to open the built-in SNMP MIB Browser and type cOpticalPMCurrentUnavailSecs into the Find box to locate it in the OID tree, selecting the specific row/instance you want to monitor since this is a table column, then select it and click OK. This object is used to indicate the number of seconds, in the current 15 minute or the current 24 hour interval, for which the optical performance data is not accounted for. On the monitor's Main parameters page you can set the target's SNMP port (default 161), credentials, polling interval, and other settings — see the SNMP Monitor help for details. On the State conditions and Alerting tabs, configure when the monitor should change state and trigger an alert; since this is an Integer32-type OID, Value bounds is the most useful condition here — trigger an alert if the count changes from its expected baseline, since that would indicate the underlying set of items changed unexpectedly. Click Finish to create the monitor; you can adjust any parameter later.
