ciscoNetRegDuplicateAddress

Module: CISCO-NETWORK-REGISTRAR-MIB

OID (symbolic): CISCO-NETWORK-REGISTRAR-MIB::ciscoNetRegDuplicateAddress

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.120.2.0.7

Node type: NOTIFICATION-TYPE

Description: This notification signifies that a duplicate IP address has been detected. The DHCP server can detect this condition through the ping-before-offer mechanism. Alternatively, the client may have sent a DHCPDECLINE back to the server; this is assumed to be the result of the client detecting that the address was in use. In either case, the DHCP server marks the IP address as unavailable for leasing to clients. The cnrNotifDupIpAddressDetectedBy object indicates whether the client or server detected this condition.

Examples

Send this trap to an SNMP manager — replace <manager> with the IP or hostname of your monitoring server (SNMPv2c):

snmptrap -v2c -c public <manager> '' CISCO-NETWORK-REGISTRAR-MIB::ciscoNetRegDuplicateAddress
snmptrap -v2c -c public <manager> '' 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.120.2.0.7

Listen for incoming traps on the manager host (-f keeps it in the foreground, -Lo prints to stdout — useful for testing):

snmptrapd -f -Lo -c /dev/null authCommunity log public

Example snmptrapd log entry:

zoo11-linux.zoo [UDP: [192.168.30.111]:61589->[192.168.30.10]:162]:
  DISMAN-EVENT-MIB::sysUpTimeInstance = Timeticks: (70773909) 8 days, 4:35:39.09
  SNMPv2-MIB::snmpTrapOID.0 = OID: CISCO-NETWORK-REGISTRAR-MIB::ciscoNetRegDuplicateAddress
