OID (symbolic): CISCO-LECS-MIB::lecsRDConfigElanName

Description: An ELAN name that will be returned to a LEC that provides the corresponding Route Descriptor in a configuration request. Note that only ELAN names within the lecsElanConfigTable are acceptable values for this object. If this object is left unspecified at row creation, then it will take on the value of the lecsConfigTblDefaultElanName from the designated configuration table.

What is lecsRDConfigElanName?

This string is the ELAN name returned to an LE client that presents a matching Route Descriptor in its configuration request, giving the LECS a third way (alongside MAC address and ATM address) to assign ELAN membership. An admin cares because Route Descriptor-based mapping is typically used for bridge-group or source-route-bridging style topologies, so getting this wrong misroutes an entire bridged segment rather than a single device. For example, a Route Descriptor identifying a particular bridged ring could be mapped here to 'legacy-token-ring-elan.'
