Description: An ELAN name that will be returned to a LEC that provides the corresponding MAC address in a configuration request. Note that only ELAN names within the lecsElanConfigTable are acceptable values for this object. If this object is left unspecified at row creation, then it will take on the value of the lecsConfigTblDefaultElanName from the designated configuration table.

What is lecsMacConfigElanName?

This string is the ELAN name returned to an LE client that presents a specific MAC address in its configuration request, letting the LECS assign ELAN membership by MAC address rather than by ATM address or route descriptor. An admin cares because this is how device-specific ELAN placement is enforced — e.g., pinning a known server's MAC to a particular ELAN regardless of which port or address it connects from — and if left unset at creation it silently falls back to the table's default ELAN name. For example, a server with MAC address 00:1a:2b:3c:4d:5e could be mapped here to always land on the 'servers-elan' ELAN.
