On a multi-homed device, it tells an admin exactly which local interface or address the failed attempt was directed at, which matters when only one of several local addresses is actually supposed to accept incoming VPN connections. A failure entry showing an unexpected local address being targeted would reveal connection attempts hitting an interface that shouldn't be receiving VPN traffic at all.
