Module: CISCO-BUS-MIB

OID (symbolic): CISCO-BUS-MIB::busLanType

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.40.1.1.1.9

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-create

Description: The type of legacy LAN that this LES emulates.

What is busLanType?

This read-create object identifies the type of legacy LAN, 802.3 or 802.5, that this LES/BUS emulates. It determines whether the emulated LAN behaves like Ethernet or Token Ring for framing and addressing purposes across the whole emulated LAN, so it must match the actual LEC clients' real LAN type, since mixing an Ethernet-configured BUS with Token-Ring-attached LECs would produce mismatched frame formats and addressing conventions. An ELAN meant to emulate a Token Ring segment but left with this object at its Ethernet default would misinterpret client frame formats across the emulated LAN.
