bcpConfigTinygram

Module: CISCO-BCP-MIB

OID (symbolic): CISCO-BCP-MIB::bcpConfigTinygram

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.275.1.2.1.7

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-write

Description: The Tinygram-Compression configuration option permits implementations to indicate support for Tinygram Compression.

When enabled the local BCP Entity initiates a Tinygram-Compression Option negotiation.

What is bcpConfigTinygram?

This read-write object controls whether the local BCP entity negotiates the Tinygram-Compression option, which permits implementations to indicate support for compressing very small Ethernet frames before sending them over the WAN link. Enabling this lets both half-bridges agree to strip the padding normally used to pad small frames up to Ethernet's minimum size, which mainly matters on slow WAN links carrying a lot of small, ack-sized frames where that padding overhead is proportionally significant. A low-bandwidth serial link bridging a segment with lots of small acknowledgment-sized frames would benefit noticeably from enabling this, while a fast link would barely notice the difference.
