bcpConfigMacAddressControl
Module: CISCO-BCP-MIB
OID (symbolic): CISCO-BCP-MIB::bcpConfigMacAddressControl
OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.275.1.2.1.8
Node type: OBJECT-TYPE
Type: INTEGER
Access: read-write
Description: The Mac-Address configuration option enables the implementations to announce its MAC address or have one assigned.
When enabled the local BCP Entity initiates a Mac-Address Option negotiation.
What is bcpConfigMacAddressControl?
This read-write object controls whether the local BCP entity negotiates the Mac-Address option, which lets an implementation either announce its MAC address or have one assigned. Enabling it lets the local BCP entity either advertise a specific MAC address it wants to use on the bridged segment or receive one assigned by the peer, the actual address itself configured separately in bcpConfigMacAddress. A half-bridge needing to present a consistent MAC address to devices on the far LAN segment, for example matching an address expected by static ARP entries, would enable this and configure that specific address separately.
Examples
Walk all instances (SNMPv2c):
snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.275.1.2.1.8 snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> CISCO-BCP-MIB::bcpConfigMacAddressControl
Get a specific instance (index 1):
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.275.1.2.1.8.1 snmpget -v2c -c public <target> CISCO-BCP-MIB::bcpConfigMacAddressControl.1
Set instance 1 (SNMPv2c):
snmpset -v2c -c private <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.275.1.2.1.8.1 i <value>
SNMPv3 example:
snmpget -v3 -l authPriv -u snmpv3-user -a SHA -A "AuthPassword1" -x AES -X "PrivPassword1" <target> bcpConfigMacAddressControl.1
