Module: CISCO-BCP-MIB
OID (symbolic): CISCO-BCP-MIB::bcpConfigBridgeIdControl
OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.275.1.2.1.1
Node type: OBJECT-TYPE
Type: INTEGER
Access: read-write
Description: The Bridge-Identification configuration option is designed for use when the line is an interface between half bridges connecting virtual or physical LAN segments.
When enabled the local BCP entity initiates a Bridge Identification Option negotiation.
What is bcpConfigBridgeIdControl?
This read-write object controls whether the local Bridging Control Protocol entity initiates negotiation of the Bridge-Identification option, an option designed for use when the line connects half bridges linking virtual or physical LAN segments. Enabling it makes the local BCP entity actually announce and negotiate a bridge number with its peer, which two half-bridges use to agree on a shared bridge identity for spanning-tree purposes; leaving it disabled means the link comes up without that negotiation happening at all. Two routers acting as half-bridges across a leased line would enable this and then must agree on the same value in bcpConfigBridgeId, or the negotiation itself will fail even though the underlying PPP link is fine.
