bcpConfigBridgeId

Module: CISCO-BCP-MIB

OID (symbolic): CISCO-BCP-MIB::bcpConfigBridgeId

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.275.1.2.1.2

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: Unsigned32

Access: read-write

Description: The bridge number of the local BCP entity.

This value is meaningful only when the local BCP entity has negotiated the BridgeId Configuration option, which means the value of bcpConfigBridgeIdControl is enabled(1).

The two half bridges must agree on the bridge number.

What is bcpConfigBridgeId?

This read-write value holds the bridge number of the local BCP entity, meaningful only when bcpConfigBridgeIdControl is enabled, and the description notes the two half bridges must agree on the same number. Because this value means nothing until that option negotiation is turned on, and because both ends must agree, a mismatch here, not a network fault, is a classic reason BCP negotiation on an otherwise up WAN link fails to complete. Setting this to 3 on one router but leaving a different value on the peer half-bridge would cause the Bridge-Identification option negotiation to fail even though the underlying PPP link is up.
