Description: The Bridge Control Packet Indicator configuration option permits the implementation to indicate support for Bridge Control Packet Indicator.

When enabled the local BCP Entity initiates a Bridge Control Packet Indicator Option negotiation.

What is bcpConfigBCPacketIndicator?

This read-write object controls whether the local BCP entity negotiates the Bridge Control Packet Indicator option, which permits an implementation to indicate support for explicitly flagging bridge control packets. This negotiates support for explicitly marking which frames on the link are BCP control packets themselves, as opposed to ordinary bridged user data, which helps the two half-bridges unambiguously distinguish protocol-management traffic from the LAN traffic being bridged. Troubleshooting tools that need to separate BCP's own control-plane chatter from actual bridged user traffic on the link rely on this indicator being correctly negotiated and enabled.
