Description: The Signal Failure Bit Error Rate.
The negated value of this number is used as the exponent of 10 for computing the threshold value for the Bit Error Rate (BER). For example, a value of 5 indicates a BER threshold of 10^-5.
This object may be modified if the associated cApsConfigRowStatus object is equal to active(1).
What is cApsConfigSfBerThreshold?
This sets the Bit Error Rate threshold that triggers the more severe Signal Failure condition on this APS group's protected line, using the same negated-exponent-of-10 scheme as cApsConfigSdBerThreshold but restricted to a narrower range (3 to 5, i.e., 10^-3 to 10^-5) reflecting that Signal Failure is meant to represent a worse condition than Signal Degrade and so uses a looser (higher error rate) threshold by design. Since Signal Failure typically triggers protection switching with higher urgency than Signal Degrade, this threshold governs exactly how bad the line has to get before the group treats it as an outright failure rather than a soft degradation. For example, setting this to 3 means the line must reach a relatively severe 10^-3 bit error rate before Signal Failure is declared, whereas the Signal Degrade threshold would already have triggered at a much better error rate like 10^-6 or 10^-7.
