Module: CISCO-APS-MIB

OID (symbolic): CISCO-APS-MIB::cApsChanConfigPriority

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-create

Description: The priority of the channel.

This field deterimines whether high or low priority SD and SF codes are used in K1 requests.

This field is only applicable if the channel is to be included in a group using the 1:n architecture. It is not applicable if the channel is to be included in a group using the 1+1 architecture, and is ignored in that case.

This object cannot be set if the cApsChanConfigGroupName instance associated with this row is equal to an instance of cApsConfigName and the corresponding cApsConfigRowStatus object is set to active. In other words this value cannot be changed if the APS group is active. However, This value may be changed if the cApsConfigRowStatus value is equal to notInService.

What is cApsChanConfigPriority?

This sets whether this working channel uses high or low priority Signal Degrade and Signal Failure K1 request codes when signaling for protection, a distinction that only matters in a oneToN group where multiple working channels might compete for the single shared protection channel simultaneously -- the field is simply ignored for a 1+1 group since there's no contention to arbitrate. In a oneToN group, this priority is what determines which working channel wins the shared protection line if two channels experience a fault at the same time. For example, in a 1:n group with four working channels, setting one channel's priority to high means that if it and a low-priority channel both fail simultaneously, the high-priority channel gets the shared protection line first.
