Type: Counter32

Access: read-only

Description: This MIB object reports the number of packets with DHCP option 82 that would exceed the MTU. The option 82 is not added and the original DHCP packet is forwarded.

What is cienaCesDhcpRelayAgentL2Option82ExceedMTU?

Counts DHCP packets where adding option 82 would have pushed the frame size over the MTU, so per the description the relay skipped adding option 82 and forwarded the original packet unchanged instead. This tells an admin that some client requests are going upstream without the circuit/remote ID info the server (and any accounting system relying on it) expects, which can silently break location-based DHCP policies on the server side without the client noticing anything wrong. This would climb if the CID/RID strings configured are unusually long (near the 64-byte limit) on interfaces already running close to the network's MTU ceiling.
