cienaCesDhcpRelayAgentL2NotForRelay

Module: CIENA-CES-DHCP-RELAY-MIB

OID (symbolic): CIENA-CES-DHCP-RELAY-MIB::cienaCesDhcpRelayAgentL2NotForRelay

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.1271.2.3.6.1.7.5

Description: This object reports the number of packets received by the relay but not intended for the relay. Inspect the detailed statistic on each relay for more details related to dropped frames.

What is cienaCesDhcpRelayAgentL2NotForRelay?

Counts packets the relay agent received but determined were not actually destined for it to process. This helps an admin distinguish traffic incidentally hitting the relay's classification logic (e.g., non-DHCP broadcast traffic that briefly matches a filter) from genuine DHCP relay drops, so a rising count here isn't necessarily a sign of DHCP trouble. A burst of unrelated broadcast traffic during a network scan could bump this counter without any DHCP client being affected.
