An admin checks this as the primary freshness indicator for web filtering, since a stale category database means newly registered malicious or newly categorized sites won't be correctly blocked or allowed according to current policy. For example, a signature date over a month old would mean newly launched phishing or gambling sites registered since then aren't yet correctly categorized by this gateway.
