Description: Memory to Disk transfers/sec (32 bit) NOTE: This 32 bit object has been superseded by a 64 bit object - memDiskTransfers64, which is supported by Check Point SVN FP3 and above. The 32 bit object is still supported, but it is recommended to work with the new 64 bit object (avoid receiving erroneous values from 64 bit machines).
What is memDiskTransfers?
This INTEGER reports memory-to-disk transfers per second (i.e., paging activity) via the legacy 32-bit counter, superseded by memDiskTransfers64 per its description. This is essentially the disk-I/O side of the same swapping problem tracked by memSwapsSec, so a rise here alongside rising swap activity confirms the appliance's disk subsystem, not just memory, is now under strain from paging. Consistently elevated disk transfer rates from paging (rather than legitimate logging or reporting activity) would point an admin toward a memory upgrade as the fix, not a disk upgrade.
