atiSecondarySoftwareRev

Module: CENTRECOM-SYSTEM-MIB

OID (symbolic): CENTRECOM-SYSTEM-MIB::atiSecondarySoftwareRev

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.207.8.12.2.3.14

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: DisplayString

Access: read-only

Description: The software revision of the secondary image stored in this device. This string will have a zero length if the revision is unknown, invalid or not present. This will also be reported in RMON2 probeSoftwareRev if this is the software image currently running in the device.

What is atiSecondarySoftwareRev?

This is the counterpart to atiPrimarySoftwareRev for the secondary firmware image slot, reporting that image's version string or an empty string if the secondary slot holds no valid image, and likewise feeding RMON2's probeSoftwareRev if the secondary happens to be the currently-running image. It matters when staging a firmware upgrade: an admin loads the new version into the secondary slot, checks this object to confirm the upload registered the expected version string, and only then sets atiImageToUseOnReboot to secondary before rebooting. If this still shows the old version or is blank after an upload, the admin knows the transfer failed rather than discovering it only after a failed reboot.
