Module: BAS-OSPF-MIB

OID (symbolic): BAS-OSPF-MIB::basOspfIfType

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.3493.2.7.7.1.7.1.4

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-create

Description: The OSPF interface type.

By way of a default, this field may be intuited from the corresponding value of ifType. Broad- cast LANs, such as Ethernet and IEEE 802.5, take the value 'broadcast', X.25 and similar technologies take the value 'nbma', and links that are definitively point to point take the value 'pointToPoint'.

What is basOspfIfType?

This read-create setting is the OSPF interface type -- broadcast, NBMA, point-to-point, or point-to-multipoint -- which determines how the router discovers neighbors and elects a designated router on that link. By default it can be inferred from the underlying link type, e.g. Ethernet and Token Ring default to broadcast, X.25-like media to NBMA, and true point-to-point links to pointToPoint.
