Description:

Loss Of OSC

What is alarmLossOsc?

This notification (trap) is generated by ADVA Optical equipment when the Optical Service Channel (OSC) signal is lost, indicating a failure in the management and signaling communication path. The OSC is critical for system control and management regardless of payload traffic. Network operators immediately respond to this alarm by investigating physical layer issues, checking fiber connections, or switching to protection paths to restore management connectivity.

Examples

Send this trap to an SNMP manager — replace <manager> with the IP or hostname of your monitoring server (SNMPv2c):

snmptrap -v2c -c public <manager> '' ADVA-FSPR7-MIB::alarmLossOsc
snmptrap -v2c -c public <manager> '' 1.3.6.1.4.1.2544.1.11.7.5.0.187

Listen for incoming traps on the manager host (-f keeps it in the foreground, -Lo prints to stdout — useful for testing):

snmptrapd -f -Lo -c /dev/null authCommunity log public

Example snmptrapd log entry:

zoo11-linux.zoo [UDP: [192.168.30.111]:62159->[192.168.30.10]:162]:

  SNMPv2-MIB::snmpTrapOID.0 = OID: ADVA-FSPR7-MIB::alarmLossOsc
