GFP LOF

What is alarmLossOfGfpFrame?

This OID represents an alarm notification that fires when the optical link loses GFP frames (a framing protocol for carrying data on fiber). When this alarm occurs, data transmission fails. An optical network technician would monitor this alarm to immediately know when a fiber link is degraded and needs physical inspection or replacement.

Examples

Send this trap to an SNMP manager — replace <manager> with the IP or hostname of your monitoring server (SNMPv2c):

snmptrap -v2c -c public <manager> '' ADVA-FSPR7-MIB::alarmLossOfGfpFrame
snmptrap -v2c -c public <manager> '' 1.3.6.1.4.1.2544.1.11.7.5.0.175

Listen for incoming traps on the manager host (-f keeps it in the foreground, -Lo prints to stdout — useful for testing):

snmptrapd -f -Lo -c /dev/null authCommunity log public

Example snmptrapd log entry:
