What is alarmLinkDown?

This notification is triggered when an external optical or electrical link connection fails on the transport equipment. It immediately alerts the NOC to physical layer failures. Technicians use this alarm to dispatch field teams for fiber cut or transceiver replacement.

Examples

Send this trap to an SNMP manager — replace <manager> with the IP or hostname of your monitoring server (SNMPv2c):

snmptrap -v2c -c public <manager> '' ADVA-FSPR7-MIB::alarmLinkDown
snmptrap -v2c -c public <manager> '' 1.3.6.1.4.1.2544.1.11.7.5.0.158

Listen for incoming traps on the manager host (-f keeps it in the foreground, -Lo prints to stdout — useful for testing):

snmptrapd -f -Lo -c /dev/null authCommunity log public
