What is alarmBackwardDefectIndicationOtu?
This SNMP notification fires when the optical transport unit (OTU) detects a Backward Defect Indication (BDI), signaling that the remote end has lost signal or encountered a critical error. The alarm alerts operators to transmission problems in the fiber optic link that require immediate investigation. This is one of the key optical-layer fault indications used in carrier-grade transport networks.
