Description: Forward ALS

What is alarmAutoShutdownLaserOffDueToErrFwd?

This is a forward Automatic Laser Shutdown (ALS) alarm notification that fires when the optical equipment detects a forward error condition and automatically disables the laser transmitter for safety or protection reasons. The alarm alerts network management systems to the fact that transmission has been autonomously halted due to an error in the forward signal path. When this trap is received, operators should investigate the root cause of the forward error condition before manually re-enabling the laser.

Examples

Send this trap to an SNMP manager — replace <manager> with the IP or hostname of your monitoring server (SNMPv2c):

snmptrap -v2c -c public <manager> '' ADVA-FSPR7-MIB::alarmAutoShutdownLaserOffDueToErrFwd
snmptrap -v2c -c public <manager> '' 1.3.6.1.4.1.2544.1.11.7.5.0.171

Listen for incoming traps on the manager host (-f keeps it in the foreground, -Lo prints to stdout — useful for testing):

snmptrapd -f -Lo -c /dev/null authCommunity log public
