virtualUNIMyNeighborIfName
Module: ACMIB
OID (symbolic): ACMIB::virtualUNIMyNeighborIfName
OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.1751.2.18.5.19.1.27
Node type: OBJECT-TYPE
Type: DisplayString
Access: read-write
Description: The textual name of the interface on the neighbor system on the far end of this interface, and to which this interface connects. If the neighbor system is manageable through SNMP and supports the object ifName, the value of this object must be identical with that of ifName for the ifEntry of the lowest level physical interface for this port. If this interface does not have a textual name, the value of this object is a zero length string. Note that the value of this object can currently only be obtained by manual configuration.
What is virtualUNIMyNeighborIfName?
This OID stores the interface name on the neighboring system that connects to the far end of this virtual interface, used for correlation and documentation purposes. Administrators set this value to maintain clear mappings between local and remote interfaces, making troubleshooting and documentation easier when multiple interconnections exist. For instance, setting this to 'ATM2/0' indicates that the neighbor's ATM interface module 2, port 0, is what this interface connects to.
