This configurable field stores the NSAP (Network Service Access Point) address that uniquely identifies the local VBR port on the ATM network. Engineers configure this address so the ATM switch knows the source endpoint for routing and correctly maps the connection to the local interface. An NSAP address like '47.0091.8100.0000.0010.0001' uniquely identifies this equipment and port within the ATM network topology.
