Description: k1 / k2 bytes from the received SONET header on the protection port. k1 / k2 are used for the APS communication protocol.

What is oc3APSPairReceiveK1K2Bytes?

This OID stores the 2-byte K1/K2 signaling bytes received from the remote end on the protection port, which coordinate the APS protection switching state between both ends of the link. Network engineers compare the received K1/K2 with the transmitted values to verify both ends of the APS pair are communicating protection switching requests in sync and understand each other's state. A receive value of hex '0x02 0x06' means the remote end is sending a specific APS command code that the local equipment must respond to appropriately.
