Description: Symmetry of the IMA group. Symmetric configuration: all ports of IMA group are configured as full-duplex. With symmetric configuration, operation is symmetric if no links failes; is asymmetric if a link fails so that the active forward and backward links between far-end and near-end are asymmetric. If the configuration is asymmetric, the operation can never be symmetric.
What is imaGrpChannelSymmetry?
This read-only OID reports whether the IMA group is symmetric (all ports full-duplex) or asymmetric (mixed duplex modes). Network engineers care about symmetry because symmetric groups provide better reliability and performance; asymmetry may indicate link failures. For example, "symmetric" indicates balanced bidirectional data flow, while "asymmetric" may indicate degraded operation due to failed links.
