This OID stores the maximum burst size in cells that can be transmitted from A to B, capping how much excess traffic the circuit can send above the sustained rate. Network engineers need this value to understand buffer and queue requirements and predict maximum latency during burst periods. A burst size of 512 cells means the circuit can send up to 512 ATM cells as a single burst before the rate limiter throttles subsequent traffic.
