This OID counts how many OAM AIS (Alarm Indication Signal) cells were sent out on this PVC to alert the far end of a fault condition. Network engineers monitor this to track when alarms are being generated and propagated, which signals a detected problem requiring investigation. A value of 5 means 5 alarm indication signals have been transmitted to notify the remote equipment of a local fault.
