ethernetPortStatsInternalMacReceiveErrors

Module: ACMIB

OID (symbolic): ACMIB::ethernetPortStatsInternalMacReceiveErrors

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.1751.2.18.10.7.1.14

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: Integer32

Access: read-only

Description: A count of frames for which reception on a particular interface fails due to an internal MAC sublayer receive error. A frame is only counted by an instance of this object if it is not counted by the corresponding instance of either the ethernetPortStatsFrameTooLongs object, the ethernetPortStatsAlignmentErrors object, or the ethernetPortStatsFCSErrors object.

The precise meaning of the count represented by an instance of this object is implementation- specific. In particular, an instance of this object may represent a count of receive errors on a particular interface that are not otherwise counted.

What is ethernetPortStatsInternalMacReceiveErrors?

This counter records frames that failed to be received because of internal MAC layer errors on the network card (not related to length, alignment, or CRC issues). When this counter increments, it signals potential hardware failure inside the NIC that's preventing normal reception of valid data. A steady increase (like 1-2 errors per day) suggests the interface card should be replaced soon.

Examples

Walk all instances (SNMPv2c):

snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.1751.2.18.10.7.1.14
snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> ACMIB::ethernetPortStatsInternalMacReceiveErrors

Get a specific instance (index 1):

snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.1751.2.18.10.7.1.14.1
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> ACMIB::ethernetPortStatsInternalMacReceiveErrors.1
