bridgeDomainRootPort

Module: ACMIB

OID (symbolic): ACMIB::bridgeDomainRootPort

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.1751.2.18.5.9.1.8

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: Integer32

Access: read-only

Description: The port number of the port which offers the lowest cost path from this bridge to the root bridge.

What is bridgeDomainRootPort?

This OID identifies which physical port on this bridge offers the lowest-cost path to reach the spanning tree root. Engineers use this to verify that spanning tree chose the correct port and to troubleshoot convergence failures or suboptimal traffic paths. For example, port 5 means the 5th interface is the designated root port and handles all traffic destined for the root.

Examples

Walk all instances (SNMPv2c):

snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.1751.2.18.5.9.1.8
snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> ACMIB::bridgeDomainRootPort

Get a specific instance (index 1):

snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.1751.2.18.5.9.1.8.1
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> ACMIB::bridgeDomainRootPort.1

SNMPv3 example:

snmpget -v3 -l authPriv -u snmpv3-user -a SHA -A "AuthPassword1" -x AES -X "PrivPassword1" <target> bridgeDomainRootPort.1
