atmAtmSpvcVpcRemoteSelectType

Module: ACMIB

OID (symbolic): ACMIB::atmAtmSpvcVpcRemoteSelectType

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.1751.2.18.6.38.1.23

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-write

Description: Indicates whether the remote VPI values are to be used at the destination. If 'any' is used, the destination switch will choose the VPI values. In such a case, once the SPVC is connected, the value of this object will change to 'required', such that the same VPI values will continue to be used even if the connection is torn down and re-established. If the value 'required' is specified, the values: atmAtmSpvcVpcRemoteVpi and must be supplied and are used at the destination.

What is atmAtmSpvcVpcRemoteSelectType?

This determines if the far-end switch picks the VPI (Virtual Path Identifier) values at its side, or if specific values must be used. Network engineers configure this when VPI allocation is critical for management or when the far switch has specific constraints on available VPIs. For example, "required" forces the same VPI values on reconnection, while "any" lets the destination switch automatically assign whatever VPI it has available.
